Court suspends Vale’s $1.5bn deposit in Brumadinho case

MINING.COM | Vale (NYSE: VALE) said on Friday that a new court decision had suspended 7.9 billion reais ($1.5 billion) in legal deposits that had been previously required in a case related to the deadly dam collapse in Brumadinho last year.

The amount would ensure the enforcement of any potential fine or forfeiture of assets, rights and values related to the disaster, the company said in a filing.
